Thank You Kitchener Centre!
“Thank you for your trust. Thank you for the honour of being chosen as your Member of Parliament - Ontario’s first ever elected Green MP.”
Mike Morrice and the Greens are taking action on the decades-old problems that the legacy parties have failed to address – affordability, the climate crisis, electoral reform, and support for people in need.
Greens put your priorities ahead of partisan politics.
Two years as your Member of Parliament
Mike and his team have been able to accomplish so much in the past two year. Here are some of Mike’s highlights in Ottawa:
Mike helped fast-track the Canada Disability Benefit and ensured the inclusion of people with disabilities in its development. Of the nine amendments successfully passed at committee as part of a collaborative effort to strengthen the bill, a majority (five) were put forth by Mike. Bill C-22 received royal assent on June 22, 2023.
In his speech on Bill C-56, the affordable housing and groceries act, Mike advocates for Canada to double its social housing stock, while also tackling the housing crisis with policies that ensure homes are for people to live in, not commodities for investors to trade.
Mike's Private Members Motion 92, calling for a windfall profits tax on oil and gas, is getting widespread support. Fossil fuel companies made record profits last year, with the five largest in Canada alone making over $38 billion. The non-partisan Parliamentary Budget Office has determined this tax on excess profits of fossil fuel companies could generate up to $4.4 billion. Mike calls on the government to reallocate the revenue raised to address both the climate crisis and affordability measures for Canadians.

Voting for Aislinn shows that Kitchener Centre wants a strong, independent voice. Someone who can advocate for our community alongside Mike Schreiner at Queen’s Park. Someone who will represent our community members about the challenges we’re facing: issues like housing affordability, cost of living, climate change – issues that impact all of us. Every vote counts!
